Classical music has been the realm of the West for centuries but Asian soloists and orchestras have become world-stage players over the last decades. Filmed at Lucerne Switzerland, Asia's most outstanding orchestra, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra performs the works of the great Russian Composers.

Under the direction of Maestro Long Yu, the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra perform the oeuvres of Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Avshalomov with a special guest appearance by Maxim Vengerov, the celebrated Russian violinist and one of the finest virtuosos of today who joins to interpret Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto.
